特徴

The Hedgehog Open Network Fabric is a Non-blocking CLOS fabric with ROCeV2 support. Featuring leaf, spine, and border-spine switching roles in Layer-3 data center fabrics with basic Layer-2 VLANs. We continuously test these features on 認定機器 throughout the release’s lifespan, all backed by our hyper responsive Hedgehog 裏付け team.

Underlay

HH fabric supports three topology modes: 

  1. 3-stage CLOS LEAF-SPINE-BORDER
  2. 3-stage CLOS MIXED-LEAF-BORDER-SPINE
  3. Collapsed core topology – LEAF switches provide server-facing and border ports, and switches form a mesh.

The 3-stage CLOG topologies use a pure L3 fabric that implements RFC 7938 “Use of BGP for Routing in Large-Scale Data Centers”.

The collapsed core topology uses a L2/L3 fabric if MLAG is supported for dual-homing.  Otherwise it is pure L3.

IPv4 and IPv6 (later) will be supported for the underlay.

MLAG and L3 ECMP host (server) multi-homing.

Overlay + Multi-Tenancy

Overlays are implemented to be functionally similar to the AWS VPCs.

For L2/L3 collapsed core topologies, VPCs are implemented as VLAN/VRF (to emulate overlays and implement multi-tenancy/segmentation.)

For L3 collapsed core, 3-stage CLOS topologies, VPCs are implemented as VXLAN-based BGP EVPNs 

VPCs support per-tenant DHCP Relay, PTP, and NTP protocol configurations.

Cross-VPC routing with policy.

Ingress and Egress routing with policy.

NAT/PAT for routing to the domains within different ip address namespace.
